Integrated Campaign Tactics

Maximise your campaign
An integrated job search that utilises many of the resources available today will certainly enhance your campaign. Consider using targeted direct mail, Internet resume postings, Internet job postings, job lead reports, recruiters, networking and advertisements. By using and integrating these diverse avenues and positioning yourself across various markets will strengthen your position and better promote your product (you). The cumulative effect of your total job search will offer the most value - not the specific channel.

Exploit the Internet
With your key-word optimised, internet-ready resume [keyword scannable format], take advantage of the Internet websites that allow you to post your resume. Websites such as www.careerone.com.au, www.seek.com.au, www.mycareer.com.au allow you to post your resume on their websites, where many companies and recruiters visit, to scout for qualified talent. Job seekers who don't use this type of service can miss out on potentially outstanding opportunities.

Internet job postings
Use the Internet to search and identify relevant job postings. Some job search websites will allow you to set up a return email system that alerts you via email when a particular role is posted, saving you valuable time.

Circulate your resume
Even the best presented and outstanding resume will have little impact on your search if you don't get it circulating. If you are still working and therefore require confidentiality, you still should aim to maximise your exposure by getting your resume distributed.

Use a targeted direct mail campaign
This strategy works best if it is well targeted so ensure that your resume is focused. Another important factor, is to confirm that the person, to whom you are sending it to, is indeed the right audience. Sending a large mass mailing without prior research and with no specific target is costly and bound to produce poor results.

Connect with various recruiters
The larger your network base (including various recruiting agencies) the greater the number of opportunities will arise. A recruiter relationship should not be viewed as an exclusive one - get as many recruiters working for you as possible.

Network, network and network
This is still the number one marketing strategy and should play a major part in your campaign. Make a list of all your contacts including past employers, colleagues, vendors, customers, sporting club associates, neighbours and other acquaintances. Either one of these contacts could have a great lead or know or an unadvertised opportunity that you would not find out about if you did not get your network working for you.
